Tua Tagovailoa has been one of the most hyped NFL quarterback prospects ever since he led Alabama to a come-from-behind win over Georgia in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game as a freshman.

Now, the time has come for the left-handed Hawaiian to take his talents to the professional level.

Here’s a look at which teams are the most likely to select Tua Tagovailoa in the 2020 NFL Draft, according to the oddsmakers at Caesar’s Sportsbook.

Odds courtesy of Caesar’s Sportsbook as of February 19, 2020.

Los Angeles Chargers (5/2)

The Chargers deciding to part ways with Philip Rivers means they are in the market for a long-term replacement. They have been linked to Tom Brady in free agency (still possible), and Jordan Love and Justin Herbert in the draft.

The Chargers hold the No. 6 pick in the upcoming draft. If we’re being realistic, they will likely have to trade up past the Dolphins to land Tua.

Miami Dolphins (-110)

The Dolphins have been linked to Tua for pretty much all of the last calendar year. If he’s there at No. 5 when the Dolphins are on the clock, expect Miami’s team representative to sprint to the podium with Tagovailoa’s name on their draft selection card.

Sidenote: I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Dolphins trade up on draft day to land the former Alabama star if they get the idea that another team has their sights set on him.

Detroit Lions (-110)

The Lions hold the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, and there have been rumblings about them using said pick on Tagovailoa. Detroit already has Matthew Stafford, one of the better quarterbacks in the league, in place, so it’s likely their ‘interest’ in Tua is more of a smokescreen than anything else in an attempt to increase the trade value of their pick leading up to draft day.

Head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn need to win now to save their jobs. Drafting a heralded prospect and instantly creating a quarterback controversy is not the way to accomplish that.

Other teams to watch:

  • Cincinnati Bengals (7/1)
  • Carolina Panthers (7/1)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (9/1)
