Tiger Woods is the betting favorite to win the 2019 PGA Championship. | Jason Mowry/Icon Sportswire

This should come as no surprise, but Tiger Woods will open the 2019 PGA Championship as the odds-on favorite, according to the current betting odds in Las Vegas.

Woods would have been among the favorites regardless, but his win last month at The Masters elevated him into the top spot at literally every sportsbook taking wagers on the event.

As usual, the field will be incredibly deep. Here’s who the oddsmakers are picking to challenge Tiger at the 2019 PGA Championship at the Bethpage Black Course.

Odds courtesy of Sportsbook.ag as of May 12, 2018.

Rory McIlroy (+1200)

McIlroy has been simply exceptional in 2019. In his nine starts this year, the 30-year-old Irishman finished the tournament in the top-10 or better eight times.

McIlroy is also no stranger to winning PGA Championships (he has already won two during his illustrious career). To top it all off, he has the ideal skillset for success on the Bethpage Black Course.

McIlroy will be a popular pick this week, and rightfully so. At 12-1, the risk/reward here isn’t great. That said, backing Rory is never a bad idea.

Brooks Koepka (+1200)

No matter what his current form looks like, Koepka can always be counted on to show up on golf’s biggest stages. The 29-year-old won the 2018 PGA Championship at Bellerive, and his skillset matches up well with the layout at Bethpage.

Even if he doesn’t win this week, I fully expect to see Koepka’s name near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon.

Dustin Johnson (+1000)

Despite his immense talent, Johnson has yet to win a PGA Championship — his best finish was a T-5 in 2010 at Whistling Straights. That could very well change in 2019.

When he’s playing well, DJ is the best golfer in the world today. He has struggled at times on golf’s biggest stages, but when it comes down to it, it will be hard to bet against him this week at Bethpage. Johnson’s length off the tee and his ability to gain strokes with his irons give him a massive advantage over most of the field.

Tiger Woods (+800)

Woods set the golf world on fire with his win last month at The Masters, and as a direct result, he will enter the 2019 PGA Championship as the odds-on favorite.

The days of blaming ‘Tiger Mania’ on Woods’ skewed betting odds are officially over. He is once again elite, and as we all know, Tiger knows how to win majors. If that weren’t enough, the 43-year-old legend has an outstanding track record of success at Bethpage Black.

The odds aren’t great here, but I wouldn’t blame you one bit for putting your money behind Tiger.
