As stay in home orders have become commonplace throughout the U.S. (and the world for that matter), the NFL has been forced to adapt to working from home like most Americans.

The NFL released a memo Monday regarding the 2020 NFL draft being conducted in a “fully virtual format”.

“Because of these circumstances, Clubs have been advised to prepare to conduct the 2020 Draft entirely outside of their facilities and in a fully virtual format, with club personnel in separate locations and able to communicate with one another and Draft headquarters by phone or internet. We have reviewed this matter in the past few days with both the Competition Committee and CEC, and this will confirm that Clubs will conduct their Draft operations remotely, with club personnel separately located in their homes.”

I can only imagine the colorful cast of characters that are the prestigious NFL owners attempting to set up a zoom meeting.

The draft is expected to be held on April 23rd. Here are some things you can bet on.

Any draftee experience local technical difficulties

  • Yes: -500
  • No: +300

Must be clearly seen during broadcast. The sharps at BetOnline are obviously cued into the faults of working from home. I can’t imagine this draft going off without a hitch. If only they had a line for whether or not Dave Gentleman could set up his own Zoom…

Highest number of people in same room

  • Over 9.5 People: -160
  • Under 9.5 People: +120

Are the days of entire families, next door neighbors, and whole congregations packed into one draftee’s room over with? With 90 percent of Americans under stay-at-home orders, will Grandma be able to make the trip? In March the White House set the line advising people to avoid groups smaller than 10. This one is anyone’s guess. Limited to the first round and must be held in a draftee’s home.

Total cats/dogs shown during first round

  • Under .5 Cats: -130
  • Over .5 Cats: -110
  • Under 3.5 Dogs: -140
  • Over 3.5 Dogs: +100

While under half a cat sounds like something out of Luka Magnotta’s playbook, this prop will truly show which athletes are the crazy cat ladies of the NCAA. I bet Joe Burrow has a pet alligator

Who will No. 1 overall pick hug first

  • Mom: +125
  • Dad: +250
  • Girlfriend: +300
  • Friend: +700
  • Sibling: +700

After reviewing the tape from past drafts, the Mother being hugged first seems to be a lock. However, we could possibly see some dark horse bromances. I like friend at +700 for a wildcard pick.

Other prop bets:

  • Will any draftee be shown drinking beer: No (-500); Yes (+300)
  • Will any draftee pop champagne: No (-1000); Yes (+550)
