Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers have officially parted ways, freeing up the eight-time Pro Bowl selection to test free agency for the first time in since entering the NFL in 2004.

When a player of Rivers’ notoriety hits the open market, it’s major news. Here’s where the oddsmakers at DraftKings see Rivers playing in 2020.

Odds courtesy of the DraftKings Sportsbook as of February 12, 2020.

Las Vegas Raiders (+1000)

This scenario all depends on how the Raiders choose to handle Derek Carr, and whether or not they can convince Tom Brady to join the Silver and Black. There is no denying that Rivers would be a fit in Jon Gruden’s system.

Carolina Panthers (+900)

This scenario will either gain steam or fall off completely when the Panthers make an official decision on the future of Cam Newton.

If Carolina opts to draft a quarterback early in the 2020 Draft, Rivers would give them a solid bridge option until their quarterback of the future is deemed ready.

Indianapolis Colts (+150)

The Colts are very, very close to being contenders in the AFC. Would Rivers be enough of an upgrade over Jacoby Brissett to push Indianapolis into the upper echelon group of teams in the AFC? Perhaps, but he’d have to find a way to drastically cut down on the turnovers.

Sidenote: Rivers is familiar with Colts head coach Frank Reich, who was his quarterbacks coach in San Diego in 2013.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+100)

On paper, Bruce Arians and Philip Rivers seem like a match made in heaven and this scenario would allow the 38-year-old to keep his family in Florida.

That said, would the Bucs really want to replace one turnover prone QB with an older turnover prone QB? The oddsmakers at DraftKings seem to think so.

  • Detroit Lions (+6600)
