After several weeks of tumultuous negotiations, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association finally agreed to play a shortened, 60-game season in 2020.

Unlike a typical MLB season, every single game will count in 2020, meaning one lengthy slump could leave a top contender out of the postseason altogether, and one lengthy hot streak could result in a World Series run for a team that entered the season as an extreme long shot.

With that being said, here’s a look at the current betting odds to win the 2020 MLB World Series.

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook as of July 9, 2020.

Houston Astros (+650)

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the talk around the baseball world revolved around how the league would respond to the Astros sign stealing scandal — remember the over/under on number of players hit by pitch betting options?

The fact (which to some is debatable now) remains that the Astros still have an extremely talented roster that is battle tested in the postseason. They will be under extreme scrutiny, however. In the end, I don’t see them winning a title in 2020.

New York Yankees (+400)

Bottom line: The Yankees are going to be tough to beat in 2020 if they stay healthy. Their lineup is deep and dangerous, and they added a bona fide ace to their pitching staff in Gerrit Cole. For me, it’s hard to envision a scenario where the Yanks don’t make a deep postseason run.

Los Angeles Dodgers (+375)

Like the Yankees, the Dodgers are absolutely loaded. Heading into the season, it will be a major upset in my eyes if the Dodgers aren’t the team representing the National League in the 2020 World Series.

Others:

  • Atlanta Braves (+1200)
  • Minnesota Twins (+1600)
  • Tampa Bay Rays (+1800)
  • Washington Nationals (+1800)
  • New York Mets (+2000)
  • Philadelphia Phillies (+2000)
  • St. Louis Cardinals (+2000)
  • Chicago Cubs (+2200)
  • Cleveland Indians (+2200)
  • Chicago White Sox (+2500)
  • Cincinnati Reds (+2500)
  • Oakland Athletics (+2500)
  • Boston Red Sox (+3000)
