After several years of being downplayed, running backs have made a resurgence in the NFL. Teams still use (and need) multiple ball carriers, but bellcow running backs — guys like Ezekiel Elliott, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey — are now a very integral part of building a successful offense.

With that being said, here are the betting odds to lead the NFL in rushing yards in 2020.

Odds courtesy of BetOnline as of May 17, 2020.

Nick Chubb (+800)

For the last season and a half, Chubb has been one of the best running backs in the business. Barring injury, the former Ohio State star should be in line for at least 15 carries per game in 2020, which means he should again go well over the 1,000-yard mark this fall.

Christian McCaffrey (+700)

McCaffrey is now the highest-paid running back in NFL history, and as we all know, the Panthers offense runs through him. My only concern here is how well McCaffrey will hold up after registering 926 touches (938 counting the postseason) in his first three professional seasons.

Derrick Henry (+600)

Henry is the reigning NFL rushing champion, and as of today, he is the odds-on favorite to win the crown again in 2020. And in my eyes, the only way the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner doesn’t contend here is if gets bit by the injury bug.

Others:

  • Dalvin Cook (+1000)
  • Ezekiel Elliott (+1000)
  • Saquon Barkley (+1200)
  • Chris Carson (+1600)
  • Joe Mixon (+1600)
  • Josh Jacobs (+1600)
  • Leonard Fournette (+1600)
  • Alvin Kamara (+1800)
  • Austin Ekeler (+1800)
  • Kenyan Drake (+1800)
  • Mark Ingram (+1800)
  • Raheem Mostert (+1800)
  • Melvin Gordon (+1800)
