Many will argue that wide receiver is a dependent position, particularly at the NFL level. While that may be partially true, there are a handful of wideouts who are capable of excelling regardless of who they have throwing them the ball.

Guys like Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, and DeAndre Hopkins (and several others) cause opposing defensive coordinators massive headaches on a weekly basis.

The oddsmakers at BetOnline have identified the biggest threats to win the 2020 NFL receiving yards crown. Here’s what they came up with.

Odds courtesy of BetOnline.ag as of April 10, 2020.

Chris Godwin (+1000)

Godwin had a breakout campaign in 2019 in Bruce Arians’ high-flying attack, posting 86 catches for 1,333 and 9 touchdowns. That was with Jameis Winston throwing him the ball. In theory, his numbers should improve with Tom Brady now the Bucs’ starter.

Mike Evans (+1000)

See above in regards to the Tom Brady effect.

Evans may be the most physically dominant wideout in the game, and now he will have the greatest player in NFL history throwing him the ball.

The biggest issue here is Evans and Godwin will be competing for touches, other guys on this list will not be facing the same dilemma.

DeAndre Hopkins (+900)

Hopkins has been really good for a really long time. In 2020, he’ll be playing for the Arizona Cardinals in Kliff Kingsbury’s air raid offense. If he stays healthy, Hopkins could be in for a career year.

Julio Jones (+800)

Jones continues to be a flat-out game-changer. He will be 31-years-old when the 2020 season kicks off, making health and the inevitable battle against Father Time legitimate concerns here. Regardless, there is no reason to believe Jones won’t replicate his 2019 stat line (99 catches, 1,394 yards, six touchdowns) this fall.

Michael Thomas (+600)

Thomas had one of the greatest single seasons by a wide receiver in NFL history in 2019. And at 27-years-old, the former Ohio State star is right in the prime of his career.

Bottom line: Thomas is the odds-on favorite here for good reason. And barring injury he’s my pick to win the receiving yards crown in 2020.

Others:

  • Odell Beckham Jr. (+1200)
  • Tyreek Hill (+1200)
  • Davante Adams (+1400)
  • Adam Thielen (+1600)
  • Amari Cooper (+1600)
  • DeVante Parker (+1600)
  • DK Metcalf (+1600)
  • Keenan Allen (+1800)
  • Kenny Golladay (+1800)
  • T.Y. Hilton (+1800)
  • JuJu Smith Schuster (+2000)
  • Stefan Diggs (+2000)
